Being part of Wymondham Choral Society means joining a lively, friendly group of singers who love making music together. You’ll always find a warm welcome here!
Our members come from all walks of life, from our 20s through to our 80s, with a wide mix of singing experience. Most of us live or work locally, but some travel in from further afield — what unites us is a shared passion for singing.
We’re lucky to work with our Music Director, Justin Bindley, who inspires us to perform at a high level, and our brilliant accompanist, Rob Goodrich. Rehearsals are fun, energetic, and full of opportunities to grow your voice and improve your singing technique.
We’d love to hear from singers of all voice parts — and we’re especially on the lookout for tenors and basses.
We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm–9.15pm in Wymondham, with a short break halfway through (perfect for a chat and a cuppa!).
Our schedule follows school terms (Autumn, Spring, Summer) with a summer holiday break. Occasionally, there may be an extra rehearsal (like a dress rehearsal on concert day), but you’ll always have plenty of notice.
The first two rehearsals of each term are Open Rehearsals — the perfect chance to meet us, sing with us, and see what we’re all about. We’ll provide the music, so just bring yourself and your voice.

Most rehearsals are at:
Fairland Church Centre
Fairland Hill, Wymondham, NR18 0AW
On the 4th Thursday of each month, we meet at:
Town Green Centre
Back Lane, Wymondham, NR18 0LB
Both venues are fully accessible with free parking, ramps, ground-floor rehearsal spaces, and accessible toilets. If you have any particular needs, just let us know at secretary@wymondhamchoralsociety.org.uk — we’ll be glad to help.
Membership helps us cover rehearsal costs. Current subscriptions are:
£180 per year
£60 per term
£15 per month
But please don’t let money stop you from singing with us — if cost is a concern, our Treasurer will be happy to chat about alternatives (treasurer@wymondhamchoralsociety.org.uk).
At the end of each term, we put on a concert (usually on a Saturday evening) in Wymondham or nearby Attleborough. These are a real highlight and a wonderful way to share our music with the community.
It’s simple — you just need to be 18 or over and enthusiastic about singing!
Being able to read music is a big help, but it’s not essential. We welcome newcomers, whether you’ve sung in choirs before or not. Our rehearsals move at a good pace, focusing on improving technique and performance, so you’ll find yourself learning and growing week by week.
No auditions, no pressure — just come along to three rehearsals and see how you feel.
We want our choir to reflect the diversity of our community:
We’re a secular choir — while we often sing sacred music and perform in churches, we warmly welcome people of all faiths and none.
Our venues are fully accessible, and we’re happy to make adjustments to support anyone with additional needs.
We respect gender diversity — voice parts are assigned by vocal range and personal preference, not gender.
Fantastic! Here’s how to get started:
Get in touch
Email our Membership Secretary at secretary@wymondhamchoralsociety.org.uk and let us know which part you sing (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). She’ll make sure you have everything you need and give you a warm welcome when you arrive.
Come to an Open Rehearsal
Try us out at one of our friendly open rehearsals — you’ll meet the choir, sing some great music, and get a feel for whether it’s right for you.
Decide if it’s for you
After three rehearsals, have a quick chat with our Music Director about joining. Don’t worry — there are no solo auditions!
🎶 We’d especially love to welcome more tenors and basses — so if that’s you, why not come along and add your voice to the mix?
